  • Health and Welfare Plans
    Morningstar offers medical, dental, and vision coverage to employees and their families. Our philosophy is to provide access to excellent health care while maintaining low out-of-pocket costs.

    Flexible Spending Accounts
    To help employees manage out-of-pocket costs, we offer health-care and dependent-care flexible spending accounts. We even match the first $100 an employee contributes to either of these accounts.

    Equity and Bonus
    We believe in recognizing outstanding work with both short- and long-term rewards. Driven by our financial success, Morningstar’s yearly bonus plan acknowledges individual and collaborative contributions to our company’s growth. When our employees perform like company owners, we can also grant them equity in the form of restricted stock units, directly connecting their awards with our performance.

    Retirement Plan
    We tap our investment and retirement planning expertise in our own competitive 401(k) plan. Employees can allocate pre-tax and post-tax dollars directly from a paycheck into a portfolio of mutual funds and a money market account, with control over how much is allocated to these investments. Morningstar matches $0.75 to every dollar that employees contribute up to 7% of their salary.

    Life Insurance
    Morningstar extends basic life insurance coverage to employees and their spouses with various options for supplemental coverage.

    Vacation and Sick Policy
    Morningstar provides three tools to help employees maintain work-life balance—vacation, sabbatical, and leave. There’s no “use it or lose it” vacation policy at Morningstar. Employees take the time they need with their manager’s approval. Prior to requesting time off, employees must discuss their plans with their manager and co-workers to make sure their work is covered.
  • Sabbaticals
    Typically reserved for tenured college professors, sabbaticals are one of the most beloved benefits at Morningstar. After every four years of continuous service, employees may be granted up to a six-week paid leave to explore, experiment, and experience. We view the sabbatical program as a way of saying thanks for helping us grow while helping employees grow.

  • Professional Development
    Morningstar has an employee development program that includes a full schedule of training opportunities throughout the year. We also offer support to employees who choose to pursue degrees related to their work at Morningstar through the Morningstar Scholars tuition reimbursement program.
    Tuition Reimbursement: The Morningstar Scholars program assists employees with strong job performance and defined career goals who wish to pursue a related academic degree while working at Morningstar. For accepted program applicants, Morningstar covers a portion of tuition reimbursement for approved, job-related degree programs.
    Educational Stipend: Morningstar encourages lifelong learning through an annual educational stipend that employees choose how to spend. We reimburse employees 100% up to a maximum annual reimbursement of $1,000.
